誰にもナイショ (Original Choreography) Trivia

May 16, 2017

– I originally started working on this choreography in late September of 2015. I had pretty much everything except for the dance break figured out, but then YouTube Red hit, and I wasn’t sure if I would be able to use the song, so I stopped working on the dance. By the time Up Front music was made available again, I had already started working on a handful of other dances and videos, so I kind of pushed this one aside. After my other laptop stopped working last spring, I lost some of the choreography notes that I had for this dance, so I had to just remember what I could and fill in the rest. (Thankfully, I was able to remember most of what I had done.)

– After all of those setbacks, what took me the longest was learning the other side for the split screen. In doing that, I actually had to rework some of the first side, too. The first fifteen seconds or so were kind of a pain to learn in reverse at first.

– I had originally planned to wear corduroy pants on both sides, but I figured, if anyone wanted to learn the dance, having shorts on one side would make it easier to see knee movements. (^_^”)

– Just like I did with “Renai WARS,” I choreographed Moemi’s side and then just “learned” Asahi’s side.

– I feel like the outfit I had for Moemi’s part looks… incredibly 90s. XD

– I love the tomato shirt I’m wearing on Asahi’s side. =D

– My favorite part of the dance (and maybe the song) is the little hop forward around 0:55. I also really like the strings in the song right after they sing “motto amaku” (when I look to the right and left) the first time.

– I was absolutely determined to get that weird, walking-in-place part in there, even though it seemed to be a little more difficult in shoes (since I usually practice barefoot or in socks). XD I just thought it looked neat.

– If I remember correctly, the first moves I choreographed were the ones that go with the lines “Darenimo naisho de.”

– I usually do my dances at night, but I did this one during the day… I didn’t even think about the effect the sunlight in the window would have on the video’s lighting. orz I think that’s one reason the lighting for the two sides was off. (-_-“)

There might be more trivia for this… but I can’t remember any more right now~. Thanks for watching and reading~! =D

It’s been a while since my last original choreography~! This time, I made a dance for Bitter & Sweet’s “Dare ni mo Naisho” (from their second indies singles). I actually made this dance quite a while ago… but I’ll talk about that more in the trivia post when I upload this dance! ^_~

~2016 Wrap-Up Post~

January 14, 2017

My year-end post is a little late. (^_^”) Here’s a quick breakdown (the split-screened and solo versions of “Magical Christmas” are considered two separate dances, and Up Up Girls (仮) is not considered H!P):

– I did a total of twenty-nine dances in 2016.
Three of these dances were original choreographies.
Five of these dances were MINI Clips.
Nine of these dances were non-Hello! Project dances.
Five of these dances were part of my “Agent 36” series.
– Of the twenty H!P dances, twelve of them were from singles/albums released in 2011 or earlier.
– Also, nine of the twenty H!P dances were album or coupling tracks (including “Iron Heart” for the °C-ute Dance Tribute).
One dance was one that had already been done previously.
– For each H!P group, I had the following number of dances – Morning Musume (any year) = 9; Berryz Koubou = 1; °C-ute = 2 (including the dance tribute); S/mileage/ANGERME = 2; Juice=Juice = 2; Country Girls = 1; misc. H!P (Buono!, Abe Natsumi, Mano Erina) = 3

Instead of giving a few comments for each video, I thought I’d just give a few general comments.
As far as my favorite dances, I was actually rather happy with the MINI Clips. They were each short and fun with something different (background, split screen…), so I still have fun watching them. The full dances though… orz Maybe I’m just being harder on myself than usual? I had had high hopes for “Shiroi Yuki no Princess wa” to maybe be another one of my “big” dance covers, but it didn’t do as well as I had hoped it would. (^_^”) I was pretty happy that I got a video uploaded on February 29th. XD “Daisuki Dakara Zettai ni Yurusanai” didn’t turn out too badly. I think I might have ended up liking the “Agent 36” episodes more than the dances that corresponded with them. XD orz “Party People Alien” was kind of fun. “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” and “Rival,” while okay were more of a relief to get done than anything, I think. (^_^”) I was super-excited with the warm reception for “Utakata Saturday Night!” ^__^ I feel a little bad about my °C-ute dance tribute; while I did work very hard to make everything work out and flow well, I can’t help but feel like it seems a bit rushed… because it kind of was. XD I only had, what, a couple of weeks or so to get it done in time for °C-uteの日. Just like with “Utakata Saturday Night!,” it was kind of exhilarating to be able to do a newer dance with “Oh my wish!” “Every Day Halloween” and “Magical Christmas” were fun dances to make because I got to be creative; “Every Day Halloween” will forever remind me of when I first got into watching wrestling because it has a bunch of references in the dance, and “Magical Christmas” was fun because I kind of love doing partially seated dances. =D I was proud of my improvement after I did “Kimagure Princess” again (ugh that first one… XD). And finally, “Kira Kira Fuyu no Shiny G” is a dance I had planned to do for Christmas for years, so it was nice to finally do it~.

So, basically… my MINI Clips were probably my favorites from my 2016 dances. I think I did more vlogs and “other” videos than I did dances (well, I definitely did), but that’s because I’ve been trying to upload at least once every week (which I have since the around the second week of October in 2015!!).

How about all of you? Which of my 2016 dances were your favorites? How about from my non-dance videos in 2016?

As far as 2016 in general… well, let’s just say I feel rather stupid about last year’s wrap-up post. XD What can I say… I was excited and hopeful, but then life just kind of slapped me upside the head. (^_^”) Thanks for continuing to put up with me~. =) (Also, it seems this is my 500th post on this blog~! =D)

マジカルクリスマス (Original Choreography) Trivia

December 19, 2016

Split Version Trivia

– This is my sixth original choreography and my second choreography for a Christmas video.

– I came up with most of this dance in a couple of days… it helped that it was such a short song. XD

– I originally had the green scarf around my waist for the guy’s part.

– I also originally had white tights and black leg warmers on for the girl’s part.

– It was rather upsetting to see the radical difference in lighting between the two parts… especially when I did absolutely NOTHING different. I filmed the parts one after the other and left the lights on when I changed for the second part. Ahhh….. so frustrating… orz

– I was going to wear boots on both sides, but I couldn’t slide/move my feet as easily, so I went with socks instead. (I have the same socks on both sides. XD)

– The seated parts of the dance were fun to create; I know I figured out a few moves that I wanted to use when I was sick a few weeks ago because I could stay sitting down and not wear myself out. (^_^”)

– For whatever reason, I really like the claps before the chorus. =D

– Those are two of our dining room chairs. XD Also, I did have two separate chairs for the two-part dance instead of just moving one back and forth.

– As I said in the video description, this is the first time in five years that I will be doing more than one Christmas dance (and it’s only the third year overall for me to do so).

Solo Version Trivia

– I went through MANY costume changes for the solo version.

– This is the first time I’ve uploaded two different versions of the same dance (not counting the redone dance for “Kimagure Princess”).

– The chorus combined movements from both sides, but one thing that was completely different was the point to the camera instead of to the side.

That’s all for this one~! I had a lot of fun making this dance! =D Thank you for watching and reading! ^__^

エブリデイハロウィン (Original Choreography) Trivia

October 29, 2016

– This dance took me (wait for it)… ONE day to choreograph. =O That is, the bulk of the dance took me one day to choreograph; I had figured out some small pieces a few weeks ago and then I made a few small changes on the day that I filmed it, but it was pretty much one day.

– I decided to make an original choreography to this song some time in September, but, as time went on, it looked like I wouldn’t have time to make one. When I thought that I might not be able to make a dance, I was going to do the short version of ANGERME’S “Mahoutsukai Sally” instead. However, I really wanted to do something more just because last year’s Halloween dance was so memorable.

– I took cues from the lyrics for some moves, but I also made several references to my current craze: pro wrestling. XD Can you spot the references to John Cena, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Shawn Michaels, Goldust, and Undertaker in this dance? XDD The references to Jake and HBK were last-minute additions because I wasn’t sure how to work them in, but I really wanted to since they’re a couple of my favorites~.

– The wig was going to be worn in pigtails, but the netting was too obvious in the back when I tied it like that, so I had to go with a regular ponytail. It actually just looks like I have a short bob style most of the time, though.

– I originally tried wearing boots that looked a little more doll-like, but I  couldn’t spin/slide on the carpet easily enough in them, so I had to go with my old standby combat boots.

– Though I knew most of the lyrics, I didn’t know all of them, so I decided to not lipsync this time. Instead, I tried keeping a straight face throughout the dance except for the chorus and the dance break. I smiled for those and looked rather scary, but I suppose that’s good for a Halloween dance. =D

– This was the first (and if I have anything to say about it, last) time that I’ve worn false eyelashes. Ugh. I did not find the experience pleasant. =/

– The first moves I came up with were the ones for the “terebi mo piano mo koppu mo beddo mo” line.

– Multiple people said I looked like a completely different person with that wig and makeup. It’s definitely not my usual style. (^_^”)

That’s all~! I hope everyone enjoyed this one. Thank you for watching and reading!

39 (Dance Cover) Trivia

October 23, 2016

– As with most Fine & Tsurutei dances, I learned this one surprisingly quickly. I don’t know what it is about their choreographies, but I’m able to pick them up pretty easily. =D

– I was originally going to wear pretty much the same outfit I wore for my dance cover of “Twinkle” but with a different colored skirt, but I decided against it.

– I wore blue, green, and yellow to represent my original channel colors. ^__^

– I’m wearing Vaporeon socks. XD

– This is the fifth year in a row that I’ve done a Fine & Tsurutei choreography for my birthday dance cover~.

– I noticed a couple of obvious mistakes… but I really didn’t want to keep doing the dance over and over. (I had already done multiple takes.) I’m getting too old for that. orz XD

– Unfortunately, you can’t really see the details in my hairstyle. I have one small braid on either side of my head, and then, of course, my hair is tied into pigtails. I wanted to do that hairstyle after see Momo (Tsugunaga Momoko) wear it in some recent pictures~. =)

– I was a bit irritated with the not-so-great quality of the green-screening at the end. orz

– I could never get the timing for the ending right, so I had to count it out by the “duun dun duun dun” parts of the song (as opposed to a normal, “1, 2, 3, 4” count). I don’t quite know how to explain it… instead of “One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight…,” I had to go with the music like “Ooone, two, threeee, four, fiiive, six, SEVEN, ooone, two, threee, four, fiiive, six, seven, EIGHT” etc. (^_^”)

– This was the last dance cover I recorded as a twenty-five year old! Obviously! XD

That’s all for this one! Thanks very much for watching and reading~. ^__^

パーリーピーポーエイリアン (Dance Cover) Trivia

April 9, 2016

– Actually, it didn’t take me too long to learn this dance. It was the same situation that I had when I learned “Happy Synthesizer”; I loved the song and dance so much that I didn’t mind practicing it incessantly until I finished learning it.

– As I mentioned in the video description, I did this dance as well as the video editing with my right pupil dilated. Though there was slight improvement in the inflammation in my eye, I need to continue using the drops to fix it completely, and I need to use some other drops to keep my pupil dilated, which means the vision in my right eye stays blurry.

– I spent three days trying to film this, but it never worked out on the first two days. A couple of takes were particularly upsetting because the camera had shut off less than a minute into the dance, but I didn’t notice (because I couldn’t see that far) so I did the entire five minute dance before I realized it wasn’t filming. TT_TT I also had problems with the tripod moving slightly and messing up the split screening. orz Finally, today, after lots of re-figuring and praying, I was able to finish filming. ^__^

– I had originally planned on having most of the dance split screened with a handful of triple split screens, but it just wasn’t working in my favor, so I had to go the “Uppercut!” route and have less split screening.

– I was hoping that my socks would allow me to do the moonwalk-type move a little better, but the carpet was just too rough for me to move as far as I needed to with that move (when I did it in “Bad Apple!!,” I didn’t need to move as far or as quickly) , so I had to just sort of step instead. =(

– I didn’t realize it until I went to change into a different outfit, but I was wearing one of my yellow socks inside out for Akari’s part. XD (Also, ARGH, Movie Maker turned the yellow into gold again! orz)

– I didn’t have any red socks, so I took some hot pink ones and Sharpied “(仮)” on them in red. … Not that you can see it in the video… XD orz

– The (仮) sunglasses I have are actually just regular sunglasses with “(仮)” stickers on the lens. XD Because there were stickers directly on the lenses, that meant that my range of vision was even MORE limited; it was almost like a blindfolded dance challenge. XD orz

-I wanted to do something different for the “Make some noise!” line, so… yeah. That’s what I came up with. It’s certainly different… XDD

– I was wearing buttons from my Etsy shop for all of the parts~. They were corresponding colors (though I only had one orange and one purple, so I had to wear some black buttons, too).

– For some reason, I don’t find the alien pose as ridiculous as the “Renai Hunter” pose even though they’re pretty similar. XD

That’s all for this one~! Thanks for watching and reading~! ^__^

サバイバルガールズ (Dance Cover) Trivia

March 29, 2016

– This is my first UP UP GIRLS (仮) dance cover in almost two years, which is insane because I love their dances so much. O__O

– I filmed this March 12th into March 13th.

– After filming all of the parts, I was devastated to see that the main part was slightly blurry. I tried filming it again the next day, but sore legs (that chorus is killer XD) and the fact that my left ear was constantly popping (sinuses/allergies?) made it too difficult for me to do over. orz Instead of refilming the dance, I ended up taking a few pictures to explain my problem; those pictures were compiled into one silly explanation picture that actually got a lot of attention on my Facebook page. Maybe I should take pictures of scary-faced Surimuchan threatening to throw tables more often… XDD

– It drives me insane that the ticking in the beginning starts on the second tick, and the ticking at the end ends two ticks before I thought it should. That’s in the actual dance! ARGH. … I should have just changed it…

– I had wanted to do more split-screening during different parts of the song, but I ended up staying with just the chorus, because that was not only the easiest part of the dance (so I wouldn’t need to learn a bunch of new parts) but it was easy to stay in one spot to accommodate the split line. Still wish I could have done more with this though…

– At first, I regretted following Konatsu’s part because I didn’t think the pigtails would tie in well with Agent 36’s character. However, I added that little part to Episode 5 to incorporate the hairstyle, and that ended up being probably my favorite part of the episode. XD

– The wristbands from my “Uppercut!” dance cover are back~!

– My sweet (36) hoodie? Yeah, that was paper taped onto a plain black hoodie. XD The design was inspired by UP UP GIRLS (仮)’s “(仮)” jackets.

– I hadn’t wanted to do this dance for a while, because a couple of the moves weren’t really to my liking (the head twirl while on my knees and the move near the beginning of the dance break just after I stop stepping in place), but I got over it because there are other moves that I really like (the foot sliding, the rest of the dance break, and especially the leg kicks before the chorus).

– During the choruses, the part furthest to the right on the screen looks faded because I was super-close to one of my lights.

– When I went down on my knees for the head twirl, I just dropped instead of lowering one knee at a time like they did because I preferred it to be on that single beat. That ended up leaving black and blue marks on the inside of both knees the next day. (^_^”)

– I’m not 100% sure why I felt like rushing the camera at the end was a good idea… but I kind of liked how it looked. XD

That’s all for this one~! I need to rest my eyes now (or at least the one, because I have white blood cells leaking from the iris of my right eye O___O). Thanks for watching and reading!
