Surimu Channel Blog Pages Revamped!

June 15, 2018

I did a bit of reorganizing for my blog pages (located in the sidebar on the right)~. Here are the changes:

– The page formerly titled 「いつか。。。」 is now called 「→ Future Dance Covers…」 and only includes the names of Hello! Project dances that I’d like to do full dance covers of in the future. As always, dances listed are subject to change.

– 「☑ Completed Dances」 will now only list full or short/shorter version dance covers that I’ve done.

– 「♪ MINI Clips ♪」 now have their own page~! This page lists completed MINI Clips as well as dances I’d like to do for future MINI Clips. Dances listed are subject to change.

That’s all for this post~. I’ll be making another announcement before the end of the month~. Thanks for reading! ^__^

Definitely…

April 21, 2018

Some dances I definitely want to do and why…

Morning Musume – Resonant Blue
– This was the first Morning Musume song that came out after I became a knowledgeable fan. That is, “Mikan” came out shortly after I found the group and their music, but I didn’t know who anyone was, and I didn’t know most of the songs. “Resonant Blue” was the first single I got to look forward to; I even burned a radio rip (including intro and outro from… I believe Gaki-san and Kamei) onto a CD! XD

Berryz Koubou – Munasawagi Scarlet
– I usually credit this song (and Matsuura Aya’s “Ne~e?”) with pulling me into the rest of Hello! Project. I really loved the original, but there was also a remix someone had made (I think it was called the APX KlubMix… and I believe it’s still on YouTube!) that I also really loved. ♥ Plus, I love the dance break! I re~~~ally want to dance to this! I’ve even been gathering items to make a somewhat accurate outfit~! =D

°C-ute – Sekaiichi HAPPY na Onna no Ko
– Though this one came out after I started dancing, I still haven’t learned it… (^_^”)> The music video is one of my favorites from °C-ute (anyone who knows me knows that I like bright colors). Besides that, I always found the song to be a lot of fun~. =)

S/mileage – Eighteen Emotion
– This is probably one of my favorite singles from S/mileage (or ANGERME for that matter)~! I’m not sure what it is about it that I like so much; I don’t even remember the music video… just the dance shot. (^_^”)> It’s high-energy with a catchy sound, so I’d really like to dance to it~.

Minimoni. – Lucky Cha Cha Cha!
– So nostalgic! This was one of my absolute favorites early on as a Hello! Project fan, and I still really love it. The video, the song, the dance… love it~! ♥ Fun fact: this was supposed to be part of the “Minimoni Madness! Dance Set” from last year, but I didn’t have time to finish it by the deadline. orz

Morning Musume ’16 – The Vision
– I’ve thought for a long time about what dance I want to do for my “graduation” from dancing (when the time comes), and this one has always been in the top three (along with a redo of “ALL FOR ONE & ONE FOR ALL!” and various other songs rotating in and out for the third option). The song is beautiful; it makes me cry, but it also makes me smile. The dance is unique (and the music video was absolutely gorgeous). I really want to dance to it when the time comes… though, who knows? Maybe something else will come out before I’m done, and I’ll choose that instead. What I mean is, don’t freak out whenever I do upload this dance. XD (… Not sure who I’m talking to… I think people mostly come here for my dance tutorial downloads anymore… orz)

Anyway, I just wanted to make it known that those six dances are ones that I’m particularly looking forward to doing~. ^_^ ♥

Goodbye, Surimuchan [Now]!

January 31, 2018

In last month’s Surimuchan [Now] post, I mentioned that I wasn’t sure if I would continue making Surimuchan [Now] posts. I already said that I wasn’t going to do recap posts anymore, but I also did decide to stop doing Surimuchan [Now] posts.

These posts (which were originally vlogs on my YouTube channel) started out as something else to upload after YouTube Red blocked most of my dances in the US. When the videos became available again and I was able to upload videos with music that was previously blocked, I continued Surimuchan [Now] and SurimuChats as an option for people who preferred vlogs to dances. In the end, though, my channel is primarily a dance channel; people generally don’t care (or care very little) about my vlog-type videos. This isn’t me fishing for compliments or views or anything; I’m just stating a fact. (^_^”) And, as I mentioned before, I’m not a huge fan of vlogging. I’ll still do the occasional Surimu Stories vlog (because they’re short and, therefore, easy to film and edit), but I’d like to bring the focus back to dancing.

Anyway, back to Surimuchan [Now]. The last seven “episodes” were posts to this blog which garnered exactly 0 interactions (comments and/or likes… although that’s true for most of my posts XD). That leads me to believe that they’re a bit of a waste of time on my part and probably yours, too. orz They were a nice way for me to look back on stuff I did for the month, but I’m just keeping a journal for that now. XD

So, goodbye, Surimuchan [Now]~! You lasted twenty-six months… that’s pretty great! ^__^

Well…

January 29, 2018

I know this blog doesn’t get much traffic anymore (less than 50 views a week since at least August… orz), so I thought I’d try a little something. If you watch my videos, you probably know that I’m a huge fan of Hello! Project music/dances. I may even go so far as to say that you, also, are something of a fan if you keep up with my videos (since the vast majority of them are H!P). If you are, indeed, a Hello! Project fan, then you probably know that this year is their 20th anniversary. I’ve listed a large chunk of the H!P dances that I’d like to do in a new page on this blog. It’s called 「いつか。。。」 (“Someday…” or “One day…”), as in “I’ll get to these dances someday.” XD It’s the first page under the list of pages over on the sidebar to the right.

Anyway, as a thank-you to those who read this blog, if you would like, please comment on that page with:
1) One of the songs/dances in the list on that page (excluding ones in bold and reserved/planned ones)
2) What you like about that song/dance

That’s it~! Keep in mind, they won’t be started immediately; they’ll just be prioritized. In short… it’s kind of like a request (albeit a rather limited one). ^__^ I haven’t taken requests since 2011 (and I’m still not taking random requests… sorry), so this is kind of special. =)

This is a limited time offer, so comment while you can~! I’ll cut it off at five comments/requests… though I’m not really expecting anyone to notice this post, so I’ll probably end up getting one if any. XD orz

If you do read this blog, thank you very much~. I sincerely appreciate it. ♥

~2017 Wrap-Up Post~

December 31, 2017

For this breakdown, “Darenimo Naisho” does not count as a Hello! Project dance cover, but the “Morning Musume 60’s Girls Pop Medley” does.

– I did a total of thirty-six dances in 2017.
One of these dances was an original choreography.
Eleven of these dances were MINI Clips.
Three of these dances were non-Hello! Project dances.
One of these dances was part of my “Agent 36” series.
– Of the thirty-three H!P dances, eleven were either album or coupling tracks.
Two dances were medleys, one of which was my longest video ever.
Three dances were ones that had already been done previously.
Seven dances were split-screened or had a split-screened section.
– For each H!P group, I had the following number of dances – Morning Musume (any year) = 10 (including both medleys); Berryz Koubou = 2; C-ute = 5; S/mileage/ANGERME = 1; Juice=Juice = 1; Country Girls = 1; Buono! = 3; Kobushi Factory = 1; Tsubaki Factory = 1; misc. H!P (Minimoni., 3nin Matsuri, CAT’S EYE 7, Matsuura Aya, High-King, Douyou Pops) = 8

Just like last year, I really enjoyed the MINI Clips~. ^__^ Some of my favorite outfits include “Mukidashi de Mukiatte,” “Ran Ra Run ~Anata ni Muchuu~,” “Minimoni。 Jankenpyon!” (just for its accuracy), “Iroppoi Jirettai,” “I NEED YOU,” “Sexy Cat no Enzetsu,” and “Kioku no Meiro.”

Favorite dances? Hmm… I’m really proud of putting that massive medley together~. =) My original choreography for this year wasn’t bad, but I can’t help but wonder if I’ll never like any of my choreographies more than the one I did for “RENAI WARS” back in 2015. XD orz

It was SO satisfying to finally dance to “Iroppoi Jirettai,” “Happy Summer Wedding,” and “Ne~e?” I’ve wanted to do them forever (especially the last two). Next year, I hope to get a few more long awaited dance covers off my list~. ^_~

As far as non-dance videos… to be honest, I’m not a huge fan of vlogging. (^_^”) The thing I like most about my vlogs is actually the blooper videos that they end up giving me. XD I’ll probably keep doing Surimu Stories, but I won’t be vlogging as much as I have over the past couple of years. I have a couple hundred dances to get done after all~.

It almost seems silly to ask, but how about all of you? Which of my 2017 dances were your favorites? Favorite outfits? How about your favorite of my non-dance videos in 2017?

2017… I got to do fun things like go to wrestling shows for the first time, but various incidents throughout the year made this a very tough year for me. Let’s see if 2018 is a little brighter~. ^__^ Happy New Year~! ♥

Surimuchan [Now] #26 – December 2017

December 31, 2017

Not a lot of fancy colors for this one; I hurt my arm/hand somehow, so being on the computer isn’t the best idea. Ahaha… orz

Entertainment
– I’ve recently gotten back into old-school musicals since I watched Holiday Inn last week. Fred Astaire, Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby… so entertaining! ♥ As for music… well the songs from some of those old musicals, particularly from “Hans Christian Andersen” starring Danny Kaye (which I haven’t even seen yet!). Justin Timberlake’s “CAN’T STOP THE FEELING!” has been getting stuck in my head a lot lately, too. My sleeping music of choice has been the Bravely Default OST (so many memories!!!! TT_TT).

Purchases
– I don’t think I bought too much besides Christmas gifts… though I did get some clearance AJ Styles button boots from the WWE Shop last week. XD Oh, wait, I got some beauty stuff from YesStyle as well as a special outfit that I plan to use for at least one dance (I’d like to use it for two, but I don’t know how well it would go with the second dance I had in mind… orz). Ooh, and Morning Musume’s latest album and PINK CRES’s first album… okay, so I guess I got a few things. (^_^”)

Happenings
– Not much besides work… Christmas Eve was pretty fun because a bunch of us played that dice game for presents. My mom and one of my brothers kept taking the same present from each other and it ended up being two bags of instant potatoes. XDD We had to watch one the dog of one of our neighbors for a couple of days, which was… eventful? He was pretty nosy… and he loves squeaky toys. XD It was different, because we’ve always had big dogs, and the dog we watched was a Westy.

Plans
– I’m currently working on three MINI Clips and a full dance (well, I have one of the MINI Clips learned; I just need to film it). None of these four dances are A-side songs! =O I’ve also wanted to film a few Surimu Stories for a while… I’ve been working on some new Etsy products, too~. I’m probably going to make some more changes to my channel and/or social media presence next year: not as many vlogs (at least not long ones), no more recap posts on this blog, not sure if I should keep doing Surimuchan [Now] posts… meh.

Recommendation
– Fidget Cubes~. I said on Instagram that the side with the switch was my favorite, and I still really like it, but the spinny wheel side has grown on me quite a lot~. I also like the clicky rollerball.

I feel kind of bad for forgetting to write a Christmas blog post (I had to work at 5 AM the next day… orz), so I’ll say it here: Merry (Belated) Christmas, and Happy New Year~! ^__^ Thanks for reading~!

Surimuchan [Now] #25 – November 2017

November 30, 2017

Entertainment
– I saw Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League in theaters. I really liked Thor (I’ve really liked all of the Thor movies) and Justice League wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be (not a glowing endorsement, I know XD).
– Even though I didn’t really care about it much when the songs first came out, Morning Musume ’17’s “Jama Shinaide Here We Go!” has been stuck in my head a lot over the past month. I think it has something to do with how much I like the part I did for that song in my giant Momusu dance medley. XD

Purchases
– I got tons of H!P CDs (and the giant Blu-ray box sets of °C-ute and Buono!‘s final concerts)! I’m trying to get hard copies of all of the H!P album releases as well as significant singles (as well as singles from miscellaneous groups). =)
– I didn’t get nearly as much from the WWE Shop for this year’s Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales, though I did get signed photos of some wrestlers (including AJ Styles, my favorite!). Besides that, I got a Shield T-shirt (way before Black Friday), and I pre-ordered a framed plaque commemorating the Finn Bálor/AJ Styles match at TLC; it has a piece of the ring canvas! =D
– For non-H!P, non-WWE stuff, I bought Wonder Woman, Spider-Man Homecoming, and Kong: Skull Island on Blu-ray (on super-sale). I also bought a little LEGO Beast and a Belle/Gaston/Mrs. Potts Tsum Tsum Stackables set to add to my Beauty and the Beast collection~. ♥

Happenings
– Work, and lots of it. O__O I haven’t had a ton of time to work on dances (I didn’t even have time to do that second redo dance I had been planning orz). It will be nice when work slows down a bit after the holidays.

Plans
– I have another Vlog Blooper video ready, and an auto-caption video is done being filmed but not quite done being edited. I plan on doing my usual Christmas dance video on December 22nd, like always~. I’d like to do more, but I don’t know what kind of time I’ll have, so I’ll probably end up uploading mostly miscellaneous videos for December. (^__^”)

Recommendation
The songs from ANGERME’s upcoming single, especially “Kimi Dake ja nai sa…friends“~! The first time I heard it, I immediately loved it and almost started tearing up during the chorus (and then the instrumental break, and then the layered vocals at the end…). TT_TT ♥♥♥

Thanks for reading~!
