Surimuchan’s Special 50th Video Trivia

September 23, 2010

Let me warn you… this is a rea~~lly long post. Trivia is organized by scene. ^_^

General Trivia

– I started working on the concept of this video in June. I started writing the script in July; I finished writing it in early August, and started filming in late August. I finished filming today.

– This video was originally going to end after the “Buono!” scene, but I really wanted to get all of the outfits/videos in there.

– I chose “Please! 自由の扉” as the song for this video, not only because I just love the song (and have since I first heard it), but also because I really love the lyrics and their message.

– I really hate how fake I sound during all of the speaking scenes. (>_<*) I don’t really like the times that I “laugh” either, but, in my defense, it’s kind of hard to react properly when I have no one to react to. (^_^”)>

Intro (Introduction)

– I tried to mimic a few of my movements from my introduction video (leaning forward, tilting my head to the right).

– At the end of the introduction, I looked down at my wristband when it fell as a call back to my intro video (when it made a lot of noise as I waved).

Cards (気まぐれプリンセス, Mr. Moonlight ~愛のビッグバンド~, 恋のダンスサイト)

– The game being “played” was Crazy Eights. As you can see, “Mr. Moonlight” was losing. XD

Lost Gloves (泣いちゃうかも, 友情~心のブスにはならねぇ!~)

– This was actually the hardest scene for me to put together. o_o It was really windy the day we filmed it, so I couldn’t hear my cues for “泣いちゃうかも“‘s lines. Consequently, my timing was a little off, and I had to edit the clips a lot to get them to match up.

– This was supposed to be a little longer as “友情~心のブスにはならねぇ!~” was supposed to point out “乙女 パスタに感動” chasing “本気ボンバー!!,” but I didn’t realize I had pointed in the wrong direction when we were filming, so I cut that part off.

Stolen Hat (本気ボンバー!!, 乙女 パスタに感動)

– We tried filming this scene on two separate days. When we tried to do it a few days before, it was too late, so the lighting wasn’t consistent.

– I did a few takes for “乙女 パスタに感動“‘s part; there was one take that I really should have saved as a blooper, because I sounded absolutely ridiculous: “Give me back my haaaaaaat!” XDD

Buono! (MY BOY, 恋愛♥ライダー, Bravo☆Bravo)

– This was a hard one to film, because the three parts were so close. They were so close, in fact, that you can see “MY BOY”‘s left shoulder is a bit transparent because of the split.

– I had each outfit matching the owner of the scarf. That is, “Bravo☆Bravo” (for which I did Momo’s part) is wearing the yellow scarf (as Momo wore in “恋愛♥ライダー“), “恋愛♥ライダー” (for which I did Miyabi’s part) is wearing the red scarf, and “MY BOY” (for which I did all three parts at one time or another; this is Airi’s part’s outfit) is wearing the green scarf.

Dancers (あなたなしでは生きてゆけない, 恋愛サーキュレーション)

– Like the “Stolen Hat” scene, we tried filming this on two different days; the first time, my sister tried to help me, but she didn’t really understand what I was talking about, so my mom helped me film it the next day.

– “恋愛サーキュレーション” was purposely a bit slow on some parts of the dance in reference to the fact that it took me a while to learn the dance for “恋愛サーキュレーション.”

Walking (雄叫びボーイ WAO!, 空前未満は見せないで, キャンパスライフ ~生まれて来てよかった~, ナチュラルに恋して)

– This was, like many of the scenes that take place during the song, only going to be a Photoshopped picture with the first three looking at “ナチュラルに恋して” trying to walk in her heels.

– “雄叫びボーイ WAO!” was going to be dribbling a basketball, but our basketballs were flat, so I had to change the plan. (^_^”)> Instead, I was listening to “サマーナイトタウン” on my iPod.

– The jump rope “キャンパスライフ ~生まれて来てよかった~” is using was a bit small for me, so I looked really odd trying to use it. XD

– I actually can walk in heels (even jog, if need be). XD I was just exaggerating the fact that they were harder to move around in.

– Even though these scenes were filmed one after the other, you can see how much the lighting changed in each!

Gamers (もってけ!セーラーふく, ルカルカ★ナイトフィーバー)

– The DS I’m using is actually my brother’s; I don’t have one of my own.

– The game they are playing is “Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.” I actually beat the second Boss Rush Mode before filming this scene. =D While I was filming, I just kept killing Final Guards in the Castle Keep. XD

Chatting (MADAYADE, 夢見る 15)

– Their conversation is as follows:

MADAYADE – So, how many views do you have?

夢見る 15– Um, 6,000-something.

MADAYDE – What?! I don’t even have 800!

夢見る 15– Well, my song is newer.

MADAYADE – Yeah, but…

– “夢見る 15” was eating a brownie with whipped cream.

Jankenpon (SEXY BOY~そよ風に寄り添って~, 恋愛レボリューション21)

– My sister helped me film this one by holding up a sheet of paper with the movements I needed to do for each part.

– I used two separate takes for this scene because the timing was slightly off in one, but I looked the wrong way at the end of the other one. orz

Posing (付き合ってるのに片思い, 女が目立って なぜイケナイ)

– I had these two adjusting their outfits and accessories as a nod to the fact that my outer skirt and hair accessory (in the respective dances) kept slipping.

Manga~ (Love & Peace = パラダイス, ワンルームディスコ, 友達は友達なんだ!)

– This is one of my least favorite scenes; synchronized sitting? Really? XD

– The manga that each of them is reading is as follows: Love & Peace = パラダイス: Ouran High School Host Club Volume 7; ワンルームディスコ: Hana-Kimi Volume 4; 友達は友達なんだ!: GinTama Volume 2.

Found Gloves (RIVER with 泣いちゃうかも and 友情~心のブスにはならねぇ!~)

– This is a reference to the earlier scene where “泣いちゃうかも” and “友情~心のブスにはならねぇ!~” said they lost their gloves.

– This is also a reference to the fact that I was supposed to wear those gloves for my dance cover of “RIVER,” but they were lost at the time.

– The items on the table are as follows: pompoms (もってけ!セーラーふく), Japanese flashcards and white gloves (好きな先輩), the book “The Rose Garden Husband” (元気+), a white flower (女が目立って なぜイケナイ), a blue scrunchy (various videos), and a yellow plush ring (MY BOY, Momo’s part).

Studying (元気+, 好きな先輩)

– “元気+” is reading “A Wrinkle in Time,” and “好きな先輩” is reading “Kanji Power.”

– “好きな先輩” asked, “How many strokes does the kanji for ‘fun’ have?”

– I had to remake the bow/ribbon for “好きな先輩“‘s outfit, because I couldn’t find my other one. (^_^”)

– The card that was used as a bookmark for “Kanji Power” was a king card with me as the king. XD It was one of five that was supposed to be used for my “Joker” mini clip, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to film that anymore. T_T

– “元気+” is not actually sitting on anything; just leaning up against the wall. Like that leg strengthening exercise, you know?

Signs (青春コレクション, Morning Musume 60’s Christmas Medley)

– If you didn’t recognize it, the thank you sign that “Christmas Medley” is holding is from my dance cover of “青春コレクション,” which is why “青春コレクション” rolls her eyes.

Prank (Bloopers 1, Bloopers 2, ペッパー警部)

– This was another one that I tried to film at an earlier date, but, again, it was too late, so the lighting was off.

– “Blooper 1” is putting petroleum jelly on the door handle.

– This scene was supposed to have the music over it, but the song was too short, so I decided to keep the audio for this.

– It was raining a bit when we were filming this, and you can see it at the top of the screen.

Same Top (ハレ晴レユカイ, Perfume Tutorials)

– If you didn’t get this scene here’s an explanation: both of them were wearing the same top, and that’s never a good thing (I guess? I was never one to care if two people were wearing the same thing XD), so “Perfume Tutorials” reverses hers and walks away, irritated. “ハレ晴レユカイ,” feeling triumphant (for some reason), continues to drink her water, but notices the other stomping back (for revenge maybe?) and makes a hasty exit. … I know, it’s stupid. XD

– The only noticeable difference between the two outfits in this scene is that “ハレ晴レユカイ” is wearing a Wizard of Oz watch, and “Perfume Tutorials” is wearing a wristband.

– The only cup that had any water in it was the one “ハレ晴レユカイ” was using.

– This scene took forever to film, because my mom and I kept laughing. XD

– In the background is the setting for the dance portion of my “好きな先輩” PV.

Kirari (バラライカ, アナタボシ)

– “バラライカ“‘s “tambourine” has all yellow ribbons.

Picture (都会っ子 純情, Introduction (in the picture))

– This was the first scene I filmed.

Kashimashi! (女子かしまし物語, JKM Tutorials)

– I actually did the entire chorus dance for this, but I had to cut it down.

– I was doing Tsuji and Kago’s parts.

Exercising (めぐる恋の季節, LOVE & JOY, H!P Medley Dance Challenge)

– That was the first (and, so far, only) time I used the treadmill.

– The song I was listening to on my iPod was GACKT’s “Redemption,” which the first Japanese song that I ever heard, and I credit it with being one of the reasons I got into Japanese culture. ^_^

– The weights I was using were five pounds each; I wanted some heavier ones, but my mom advised against it. XD

– The song I was listening to while I was lifting the weights was “The Gift” by Seether, which was the song used in the first YouTube video I ever saw (it had clips of “Dirge of Cerberus”).

– The booklet “Challenge Medley” is reading is from Final Fantasy VIII’s Official Soundtrack.

I believe I’ve already made it clear on this blog how much I love that music. ❤

Omake (本気ボンバー!!, 元気+, no hesitAtIon)

– The outfit that is there in the beginning before disappearing is from the song and PV cover that I did of Kago Ai’s “no hesitAtIon.” It was uploaded to YouTube for about two-and-a-half hours in January (or maybe February?), but I was so unhappy with my voice that I removed it.

And that’s all~! Thank you all so much for supporting me with your views and comments. I really appreciate it. T__T I hope to keep making videos for you. ^__^

アナタボシ (Dance Cover) Trivia

August 26, 2010

– The “tambourine” I’m using is an embroidery hoop with curling ribbon tied on.

– I was frustrated with this dance, not because it was hard or I didn’t like it, but because I knew it, and I couldn’t record it because it put so much strain on the Achilles tendon of my left foot (which is the one with tendinitis). I’m so glad that I finally finished it, though! ^___^

– I was at a loss for what top to wear for this; I was going to wear the regular white shirt that I wear for a lot of dances, but it looked terrible with that skirt by itself. (^_^”)>

~ Progress Report~ 2

June 26, 2010

Here are the approximate percentages for each of the requested dances:

♣  あなたなしでは生きてゆけない – 86% learned
♣  抱きしめて 抱きしめて- 24% learned
♣  恋愛サーキュレーション – 20% learned
♣  アナタボシ – 7% learned
♣  恋のバカンス – 90% learned
♣  もってけ! セーラーふく – 92% learned

– With “あなたなしでは生きてゆけない,” it’s just a matter of learning the two dance breaks better and starting on the correct foot for certain parts of the dance.

– I’ve only looked at “抱きしめて 抱きしめて” a little, but I do remember the chorus from when I tried learning it before, and they repeat that a few times, so I figured about 24% would be accurate enough.

– “恋愛サーキュレーション” has been giving me a bit of trouble; I can’t seem to coordinate for the second part of the verse, so I haven’t been focusing on this dance as much as others right now. I’ll keep working on it~.

– I really only looked at “アナタボシ” a couple of times, so I don’t really know much past the beginning moves. (^_^”)>

– I will be attempting a split-screen with “恋のバカンス,” but I will have to change the dance slightly because of it. For example, when they switch sides, I’ll just spin in place, so I don’t get cut off. I hope that’s okay…

– “もってけ! セーラーふく” was another one that I had (more or less) learned long ago. There’s about four or five seconds worth of the dance that keeps tripping me up, but, once I get that, it’s on to the fine-tuning stage, so this one may actually be my next uploaded dance (even though I don’t have any outfits that will work with it… ^_^”).

~~ Sorry for not writing more lately; I’ve been trying to rest my eyes, as the right one still hurts. I’ll try to get back to working on the dances as soon as possible. Sorry again! m(_ _)m ~~

Update ~15~

June 22, 2010

Su~per Quick Update

“MADAYADE” is about 90% learned; I’ll try to fine-tune it fast enough to get it out this week.

“あなたなしでは生きてゆけない” is maybe 50-60% learned, as it’s rather hard to see what they’re doing most of the time. (^_^”)>

I haven’t really looked at “抱きしめて 抱きしめて” yet, but I had learned the chorus dance when the song first came out, so I at least know that. (^_^”)

I haven’t had much time to look at “恋愛サーキュレーション” or “アナタボシ” either, so they’re probably 20% and 5% (respectively) learned. XD

I do, however, know a lot of “恋のバカンス” –now it’s just a matter of figuring out how I’m going to do the video (I wanted to try split-screening, but I don’t know how well I can make it work)–, and I also know quite a bit of “もってけ! セーラーふく,” as I had more or less learned it a few years ago.

Whew~! I had better sit down for a bit. XD

バラライカ (Dance Cover) Trivia

June 18, 2010

– The skirt I’m wearing is the same one from my dance cover of “Mr. Moonlight ~愛のビッグバンド~.”

– I decided to wear knee-highs because my legs had so many mosquito bites from when I tried to film “青春コレクション” outside in shorts. (>_<*)

– I only put small pigtails in my hair, because I think I look absolutely ridiculous in full pigtails. T_T

– I found that, even after practicing it only once, you can really feel how much the right arm is used in this dance. Ow. (-_-”)

– Even though this is my first dance cover of a song from Koharu, I was planning on learning “はぴ☆はぴサンデー” back when I had first started uploading dances, so I could put it up on the day she graduated. … I never did learn it. (^_^”)>

Update ~13~

June 18, 2010

Two more dances have been added to the list~! ^__^

Also, I rearranged the order of the upcoming dances a bit according to my priority list. “バラライカ” is still first, because I plan on filming it in the next few days, but “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” and “おまかせ♪ガーディアン” have been moved down, while the three Berryz songs have been moved up. I don’t know “Kiss!3” as well as I thought I did (because I like to try to get all of the fine details), so it’s been pushed back. (^_^”)>

This doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll have all three Berryz songs learned before “Kiss!3;” it just means that I will focus more on the requested ones, so I’ll spend, for example, twenty to thirty minutes working on each Berryz song and five to ten minutes working on the other two. I may still get “Kiss!3” done first, because it’s one continuous shot and a simpler dance, but I’ll be working hard on the Berryz dances! ^_^

~ Surimu-chan

♪ Kusumi Koharu – Balalaika
♪ Berryz Koubou – Anata Nashi de wa Ikite Yukenai
♪ Berryz Koubou – MADAYADE
♪ Berryz Koubou – Dakishimete Dakishimete
♪ Buono! – Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!
♪ Guardians 4 – Omakase♪Guardian

~Another Request~!

June 18, 2010

Another dance has been requested! This time it’s “あなたなしでは生きてゆけない” by Berryz工房. “バラライカ” will be uploaded first (because I already know it), and I’ll probably finish learning “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” before I finish “あなたなしでは生きてゆけない,” but I will try to learn it as soon as possible~! ^_^

Also, I’ve gotten a request to do a tutorial for my dance cover of “女子かしまし物語.” I may try to learn a few other parts of the dance before I upload the tutorial, though, so I don’t know when I’ll get that done. (^_^”)>

I updated my “♫ Upcoming Dances ♫” list today; I added “あなたなしでは生きてゆけない” and “おまかせ♪ガーディアン,” so please look forward to those as well~! ^_^

~Progress Report~

June 12, 2010

I thought I’d give a progress report on about how much I know of each of my upcoming dances. Please keep in mind that I didn’t get these numbers mathematically; I’m just kind of guessing the approximate amount I’ve learned for each dance. (^_^”)>

✪ 都会っ子 純情 – 99.4% learned
✪ 女子かしまし物語 [Short Vers.] – 50% learned
✪ 青春コレクション – 83% learned
✪ バラライカ – 71% learned
✪ Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! – 62% learned

As you can see from these numbers, “都会っ子 純情” is more or less finished, so I’m going to try to film it later tonight. ^_^

I had been learning “青春コレクション” before I got the request for “女子かしまし物語,” which is why I know more of that one; also, it’s kind of hard to find a clear view of the dance for “女子かしまし物語” because, as I said before, they usually focus on the member that the others are singing about. I’ll keep working on it, though!

I probably know a little bit more of “バラライカ” and “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” than that, but the moves that I do know aren’t sharp enough for me to give myself a higher percentage. (^_^”)>

Okay, back to dancing I go~…

~ Surimu-chan

Update ~10~

June 6, 2010

Another dance has been added to my “Dances to Do” List! Well, actually, my “Dances to Do” List is about 60 dances long and growing, so I should say another dance has been added to my “Dances to Do Soon” List. ^_^ So, here is that list:

☆ °C-ute – 都会っ子 純情
☆ 久住小春 – バラライカ
☆ モーニング娘。– 青春コレクション
☆ Buono! – Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!

Also, I have a new goal! It might be a little far-fetched, but I’d like to learn all four Guardians 4 dances before my next birthday. That means I have a little less than five months to do so. o_o

I did learn the first forty seconds of “都会っ子 純情” (plus a little more), a couple of days ago; I want to try to record the dance before the first (official) day of summer.

I’m taking a small break right now, because, even though I didn’t snap my head to the side as hard as I did before (for my last dance cover), I still managed to hurt my neck again… and then I slept on it wrong and made it worse. (^_^”)> Sorry for making everyone wait longer for more videos! m(_ _)m

~ Surimu-chan

June 3, 2010

… that’s approximately how much I’ve recovered from my injuries. ^_^ So, I’m going to wait until my mom wakes up, and then I think I’ll try to film “夢見る 15歳” today~! Yay!

I’ve also started learning “都会っ子 純情” today~. It’s kind of hard. (^_^”)> But, I think if I can figure out the first forty seconds or so (you know, that hard part of the dance), the rest shouldn’t be too much of a problem. =D After that… actually the dance shot for “青春コレクション” will probably be out in the next few days, so I’ll probably learn that. And then… “バラライカ” is after that. By the time I finish all of those, I wouldn’t be surprised if the dance shot for Berryz Koubou’s new single is out. (^_^”)>

I’ve really been wanting to do an older モーニング娘。 dance, though. The last one I did (not counting the one by タンポポ or “好きな先輩”) was “恋愛レボリューション21,” and that was back in February. o_o I might do “ハッピーサマーウェディング,” because that was one of the first few MoMusu songs I heard, and it was also one of the first few H!P dances that I learned. 懐かしい~…

In other news, I don’t know how many more full length PV-type videos I’ll be able to pull off. T_T I don’t want to keep reusing the same locations, and I don’t really have anyone I could ask to use their yard or whatever, so… I might just do those mini clips that I was talking about in a previous post. It would be easier to film and edit them, and, because they would be shorter, I could spend a little more time making them better. I already have a few songs in mind, including one from MoMusu’s fifth album, a Berryz Koubou coupling track, and a Vocaloid song. (I do still have two songs in mind for full-length “PVs,” but there isn’t any dancing in either of them. o_o)

I have a new header for my blog~ (both of them, actually)! Yay~! I like to change it every few weeks or so. =D I’m not sure how much I like the picture (though I never seem to like any of my pictures ^_^”), but I suppose it turned out okay.

On a more random note, I beat Castlevania Symphony of the Night a little while ago! =D I usually stick to my RPGs (and even then usually only Final Fantasy games), but this one, once I got the hang of it, was a lot of fun. I got up to level 60 or 61, so Dracula was really, really easy to beat. I always seem to level up to the point of the final boss not being a challenge at all. (^_^”)>

On another random note, I ordered some CDs off the Internet yesterday morning (at least my brother did, because I don’t have any way to do so ^_^”)! The CDs that I got were… well, I’ll post a picture when they get here in a couple of weeks. ^_^

Well, this post has gone on long enough. XD I’ll try working on “都会っ子 純情” a little more. ^_^
