BRAND NEW MORNING (Dance Cover) Trivia

May 23, 2017

– I first tried to film this early in the morning May 10th, but it wasn’t working out, so I filmed something else instead. I eventually filmed this early in the morning on May 12th.

– I was really excited when I finally found some red shorts in a store. 😄 I’ve been looking for some decent ones for YEARS (proper color, no holes/cuts/distressing).

– The jacket/sweatshirt I’m wearing has only been used in one other video: the “LOVE Machine” collaboration (for one of the small sections).

– I felt like the marching part of the dance was kind of boring because it just doesn’t look as good with one person (as is usually the case for any of these formation dances with marching). (-_-“)

– I tried only tying back part of my hair, but it kept getting in my face (as you can see in the split-screened part), so I had to put it up in a ponytail. (^_^”)

– I was still using the dilating eye drops for my eye infection when I filmed this, so the combination of the blurriness from the drops and the bright lights threw me for a bit of a loop. 😄

– The chorus and the first half of the dance break are probably my favorite parts of the dance. =D

– I had to pin some black fabric behind the blinds in the window to block out the light so it wouldn’t mess with the lighting for the split screen. The result was a nearly flawless split~. ^_^

– Speaking of the split screen, that was kind of a last-minute decision. I really liked how the dance for the chorus looked, so I quickly learned the other part before I started filming. =)

I think that’s it for this one~. Thanks for watching and reading!

誰にもナイショ (Original Choreography) Trivia

May 16, 2017

– I originally started working on this choreography in late September of 2015. I had pretty much everything except for the dance break figured out, but then YouTube Red hit, and I wasn’t sure if I would be able to use the song, so I stopped working on the dance. By the time Up Front music was made available again, I had already started working on a handful of other dances and videos, so I kind of pushed this one aside. After my other laptop stopped working last spring, I lost some of the choreography notes that I had for this dance, so I had to just remember what I could and fill in the rest. (Thankfully, I was able to remember most of what I had done.)

– After all of those setbacks, what took me the longest was learning the other side for the split screen. In doing that, I actually had to rework some of the first side, too. The first fifteen seconds or so were kind of a pain to learn in reverse at first.

– I had originally planned to wear corduroy pants on both sides, but I figured, if anyone wanted to learn the dance, having shorts on one side would make it easier to see knee movements. (^_^”)

– Just like I did with “Renai WARS,” I choreographed Moemi’s side and then just “learned” Asahi’s side.

– I feel like the outfit I had for Moemi’s part looks… incredibly 90s. 😄

– I love the tomato shirt I’m wearing on Asahi’s side. =D

– My favorite part of the dance (and maybe the song) is the little hop forward around 0:55. I also really like the strings in the song right after they sing “motto amaku” (when I look to the right and left) the first time.

– I was absolutely determined to get that weird, walking-in-place part in there, even though it seemed to be a little more difficult in shoes (since I usually practice barefoot or in socks). 😄 I just thought it looked neat.

– If I remember correctly, the first moves I choreographed were the ones that go with the lines “Darenimo naisho de.”

– I usually do my dances at night, but I did this one during the day… I didn’t even think about the effect the sunlight in the window would have on the video’s lighting. orz I think that’s one reason the lighting for the two sides was off. (-_-“)

There might be more trivia for this… but I can’t remember any more right now~. Thanks for watching and reading~! =D

色っぽい じれったい (Dance Cover) Trivia

May 13, 2017

– I filmed this on April 15th. I wanted to make absolutely sure that I would have a dance done for Mother’s Day (even though I’m uploading this the day before Mother’s Day).

– I used a plain black high-low skirt (which I bought over a year ago (maybe even a year-and-a-half) specifically for this dance) turned to the side for this dance. I bought a few yards of material specifically to make the red and black ruffles on the skirt. This is the first time in a lo~ng time that I’ve actually sewed finished edges on something for a dance.

– I was a little worried that this outfit would look too much like the one I wore for my dance cover of “Hadaka no Hadaka no Hadaka no KISS” because I used the same top and color scheme, but I think the skirt helped to make it different enough.

– I had many failed takes with those shoes on (I had to put cotton balls in the toes to keep them from slipping off), so I finally took them off. I did one full take without the shoes, but I knew that my mom really liked how they looked with the outfit, so I was determined to do the dance with them on… so, I did. ^_^

– I tried to start the dance on the floor (as seen in the original dance), but I kept getting caught on my skirt when I stood up. 😄 That’s why I started the dance standing.

– Love those arm swings in the opening moves! =D

– After clapping while turned to the left, the steps taking to turn to the right (seen in the opening, dance break, and ending) might have been the most difficult for me, especially the one during the dance break. I think I kept starting on the wrong foot. 😄 orz

– I added a bunch of arm movements during the part after the dance break, because I didn’t want to just follow Ai-chan’s part and sit there for the majority of that section. 😄

– I completely removed that awkward move during the chorus where one arm pushes upward and the other pushes down while the knees bend deeply… super-awkward-looking. o_O

– They use more regular steps with both feet during the chorus, but I mostly stepped with my right foot and kind of dragged the left foot over. (^_^”)>

– This is one of the few Hello! Project songs that my brothers also enjoy. =)

That’s all for this one~! Thank you for watching and reading!

かっちょええ! (MINI Clip) Trivia

April 20, 2017

– My first MINI Clip edit of this song was only 57 seconds long. I edited it again to include the dance break.

– I had originally planned on doing a MINI Clip for a different Berryz coupling track, but I didn’t have enough time to learn it really well, so I decided to go with this one instead because the dance is so simple.

– The part of this MINI Clip that took the longest was figuring out the outfit. 😄 At first, I had a white shirt with a cute picture of Dumbo on it, but I decided against it. I had a pink tank top over the blue tank top at one point. I also thought about wearing my Ultimate Warrior arm tassels (but they would have flailed around too much) or arm accessories that had a Ferris wheel on one side and ice cream on the other side.

– THE. TOP. IS. YELLOW. It doesn’t look like it. But it is. *shakes fist at Movie Maker*

– My first idea for that scarf was to have it pinned to the back of the straps of my tank top(s) so that it hung down kind of like a cape, but I went with the forward drape so it looked more like a vest instead.

– I’m wearing rolled up arm accessories (cut-up knee-high socks) on my wrists.

– I think I’ve said this multiple times… I love those shorts (and the blue, purple, and pink ones just like them). They’re so comfortable! =D

– I was having a little trouble lip-syncing in this because my jaw is kind of stiff and screwed up from the elastics I’ve been wearing on my braces. (^_^”)

– I probably could have done the full song just as easily… it was only one minute longer, and it used pretty much the same moves. 😄 orz

– The border originally had yellow triangles, but Movie Maker made the yellow a really ugly light orange sort of shade, so I changed them to blue. orz

That’s all for this one~! Thanks for watching and reading! =D

Just Try! (Dance Cover) Trivia

April 8, 2017

– I filmed this on March 24th.

– This is, of course, my first Tsubaki Factory dance cover~.

– Of the three songs/dances from their debut single, I wanted to do this dance first because I thought the opening moves and the dance break looked really cool.

– … Can I just mention how sick I am of silver outfits in H!P videos? I can never match them. (-_-“)

– This is the first dance cover I did with my new camera~.

… I… I don’t think I actually have any more trivia for this one. O__O Wow.

Well… thanks for watching and reading~! 😄

お菓子つくっておっかすぃ~! (Dance Cover) Trivia

March 25, 2017

– I filmed this on March 19th/20th.

– The original outfits were close to (if not the same) as the ones for “Mini. Strawberry Pie,” but I didn’t want to use the same outfit, so I just kept the same color scheme.

– This is yet another song that I liked early on as a Hello! Project fan. I listened to Minimoni quite a bit, now that I think of it.

– It’s been a long time since I made a proper bow for a bow tie! =D

– I was originally going to use orange shorts with pieces of the plaid fabric on them, but I knew the shorts would end up looking red on the video, so I went with blue instead. I think it turned out pretty well.

– As I’ve done with other dances, I just tucked pieces of fabric into the tops of my socks to get that look~.

– This was originally going to be a MINI Clip with a different dance as the “feature”/full dance cover of this set, but, because I’ve been working so much, I didn’t have time to learn that other dance, so I just learned the full dance for this one instead.

– I think it took me about… thirty takes or something ridiculous like that to get one that I was satisfied with. O_O

– That move that I do in the beginning (when they say, “Get down!”) was killer. I did one filming session, but I wasn’t satisfied with the final take from that after rewatching it a few times, so I decided to redo it. … The next day my poor legs were so sore. 😄 orz

– One move I wanted to improve when I re-filmed it was the hopping to the side. I wanted it to be more exaggerated. Actually, I tried to make a lot of the moves more exaggerated. 😄

– I HATED the timing for the leg swings around 0:24 (and elsewhere). They just seemed so out of place/off/weird!

– The dance break (2:53 to 3:05) was some of my terrible free-styling (as if you couldn’t tell). XDD orz

– There was one take in which I messed up with only seven seconds of the dance left. That was horrible. orz

– I had a few different options for the border. There was one with the cakes on regular, blue, rectangular side borders, another with the cakes on regular, green, rectangular side borders, and another with just the cakes by themselves with no background color. I eventually decided on the blue, but I added a scalloped edge so that it had a softer, more confectionery look to it.

I think that’s it for this one~. It’s been a lot of fun doing a dance set again after so long! =D Thank you for watching and reading~!!

ミニ。ストロベリ~パイ (MINI Clip) Trivia

March 24, 2017

– I filmed this dance on March 15th.

– This song is one of my early H!P favorites, because I thought the video/song was fun and cute~. I even taught my sister how to sing it when she was only about nine or ten years old by writing out the lyrics phonetically. =D

– I’m trying to go back to my previous habit of not spending money on anything for my dance covers, but I did give in for this one so I could buy that orange and blue plaid fabric because I thought it was a perfect Minimoni。 style. ^__^

– I had one large piece of fabric pinned around a white skirt, two large rectangles pinned to a white polo shirt, and two thin rectangles as “straps” connecting the front and back rectangles.

– The headband is actually just a piece of white paper cut in a “frilly headband” shape and then pinned to a regular headband. 😄

– The hairstyle changed a few times before I finally decided to leave it down. Instead, I wore an orange hair tie on each wrist.

– In my first attempt at editing this, there was a veeeeery slight stall in the video when the first strawberry appeared. I didn’t think it was too noticeable (it didn’t throw off the timing or anything), so I left it alone. It was until I had uploaded it (unlisted), watched it, and gotten halfway through writing the trivia that I decided to try to re-edit it. 😄

– The move for “ichigo, ichigo” is actually the same as the one for “mou chotto mateba SUTOROBERI PAI,” but I wanted to add the strawberry effects, so I changed it (and, to be honest, I thought it turned out pretty cute~). =D

That’s all~! Thanks for watching and reading~! ^__^

ミニモニ。ジャンケンぴょん! (MINI Clip) Trivia

March 23, 2017

– I filmed this dance late March 10th/early March 11th.

– Like I said in the video description, I changed a few of the moves a bit; I didn’t do the arm movements that accompany the hopping around (around 1:00), because they do look a bit too strange. I also didn’t put my thumb directly on my nose when I waved my hand near my face (because some people find that very offensive (^_^”)), and I just shook my hands during the “pa pa pa pa” parts instead of doing the sort of pinching movement (?) that they’re doing.

– I had make a face like Aibon did around 0:20. 😄

– I was glad that you can see that I actually did have red, orange, and yellow in this costume. My video editor has a terrible habit of turning orange into red and yellow into gold. (-_-*)

– The plaid parts of my outfit were hand-painted; that’s why the pattern isn’t completely consistent. (^_^”) I still like how it turned out, though~!

– My top is actually rather complicated. I have a long-sleeve orange shirt (see what I mean about the editor making it look red! orz), under a white short-sleeve shirt. Small pieces of blue fabric were cut out for the accents on the white shirt. The “bodice” sort of piece is the painted yellow/gold fabric, green fabric, and orange fabric pinned together. I slipped that on over my shirt (I say “slipped it over” when I mean “contorted into” because I had everything already pinned together XD) and then pinned the shoulder straps to it. O_O

– For the headband, I simple cut out a couple of squares of green fabric, folded them in half, pinned the edges, and then slipped the two pinned squares onto the headband~.

– At first, I kept the leg warmers up with dress tape (double-sided tape), but, after a lot of takes, they started to come undone, so I put on white, knee-high socks and tucked the leg warmers into those.

– This dance was a li~ttle bit of a pain, because I learned a bunch of it from the “Odoruda pyon!” Ver. (an almost dance shot version), but then I watched some live performances to check different moves, and they did a few things completely differently. (-_-“) I just sort of picked whatever to make it work for me~.

I think that’s all for this one~! =D Thanks for watching and reading, pyon~! ^__^

Internet Cupid (Dance Cover) Trivia

March 6, 2017

– I think I’ve mentioned it before (probably multiple times?), but I didn’t really like Momo when I first got into Hello! Project. However, after seeing her in Buono! (and actually understanding her character), she became one of my favorites in all of H!P. I admire her very much and was happy to upload a dance on her birthday~.

– It took me forever to figure out how to get the pixel-y look for my outfit. I had a bunch of little squares of fabric cut out, but it was getting to be waaay too many pins to keep them in place, plus they didn’t want to stay lined up properly (with the corners meeting). Eventually, I had to pin only a couple of the large pieces of grouped squares on while using dress tape for all of the smaller squares.

– At one point, I considered pinning the squares to the pink belt/sash that I wore in my dance cover of “Sakura Mankai”… but that looked pretty terrible. 😄 orz

– Yes, I do have “pixels” going up my neck and on my arm and wrist. =)

– I wore the fabric choker not only for the look of it but to cover up the bug bite on my neck (this was filmed a day or so after I was bitten). (-__-*)

– The border was made in Paint and blue-screened in. 😄

… I think that’s it~! Thanks very much for watching and reading! =D
