I NEED YOU (Dance Cover) Trivia

June 22, 2017

– I filmed this on June 12th.

– I actually had a couple different options for a “Momo graduation dance” besides this one: Berryz Koubou’s “Gag 100kaibun Aishite Kudasai” (because it pretty much is Momo’s song) and Country Girls’ “Peanut Butter Jelly Love” (because it was the more Momo-like song from her last single). I didn’t do either of those because I decided that I’m going to follow someone other than Momo for those dances. (^_^”)

– Each place I danced had some significance: Location 1 (by the oak) was around the spot where I filmed my dance cover of “Iku ZYX! FLY HIGH” (the first single Momo participated in); Location 2 (by the birches) is where I filmed my dance cover of “Tamerai Summer Time” (just from a different angle); and Location 3 is, of course, where I filmed most of my video for “Kia Ora Gracias Arigato” (Momo’s solo song from their mini album partenza).

– I was originally going to film elsewhere for the first two locations: 1 would have been where I danced to “Crazy Kanzen na Otona” (which was also where I did my first split screen video: Berryz Koubou’s “Sprinter!”) and 2 would have been on that little slab of cement where I used to do a lot of outdoor dance covers. Unfortunately, there would have been a bunch of stuff in the background, so I changed my mind. XD orz

– As I said in the outfit blog post for this dance, I wanted pink for Momo and black to represent Buono!’s rock-ish edge~.

– The camera glitched a bit around 3:04 to 3:08. O__O I had already done so many takes, though, and it was so hot out that I just didn’t want to do any more. orz

– This was the first video in quite a while that I asked my mom to help me with~. ^__^

– I think I’ve mentioned this before, but Momo used to be my least favorite H!P member (I did one of those rankers/sorters and she was on the bottom), but, once I “got” her character and realized just how talented and professional she was, she quickly jumped up into my top rankings. (Her work in Buono! really helped, too~.) =D

I think that’s about it for this one. I had to get ready for work now, but if I remember any more trivia later, I’ll try to remember to add it. (^_^”)

Thanks for watching and reading~!

Outfit for Upcoming I NEED YOU Dance Cover

June 20, 2017

This is the outfit that I’ll be wearing for my upcoming dance cover of Buono!’s “I NEED YOU.” I wanted pink (for Momo) with black (to represent Buono!’s rock-ish edge). =)

(I felt a “Yurushite nyan~” pose was needed. XD) This dance cover will be uploaded on June 22nd. Please look forward to it~! ^__^

Internet Cupid (Dance Cover) Trivia

March 6, 2017

– I think I’ve mentioned it before (probably multiple times?), but I didn’t really like Momo when I first got into Hello! Project. However, after seeing her in Buono! (and actually understanding her character), she became one of my favorites in all of H!P. I admire her very much and was happy to upload a dance on her birthday~.

– It took me forever to figure out how to get the pixel-y look for my outfit. I had a bunch of little squares of fabric cut out, but it was getting to be waaay too many pins to keep them in place, plus they didn’t want to stay lined up properly (with the corners meeting). Eventually, I had to pin only a couple of the large pieces of grouped squares on while using dress tape for all of the smaller squares.

– At one point, I considered pinning the squares to the pink belt/sash that I wore in my dance cover of “Sakura Mankai”… but that looked pretty terrible. XD orz

– Yes, I do have “pixels” going up my neck and on my arm and wrist. =)

– I wore the fabric choker not only for the look of it but to cover up the bug bite on my neck (this was filmed a day or so after I was bitten). (-__-*)

– The border was made in Paint and blue-screened in. XD

… I think that’s it~! Thanks very much for watching and reading! =D

~Update 58~

February 24, 2017

Here’s what is (probably, most likely, not 100% but definitely up there) coming out in the next couple of weeks.

2/26 – Mind the Headphones Dance Challenge
2/28 – Surimuchan [Now] #16
3/3 – H!P Vlogs #9: How My Mom Remembers H!P Songs
3/6 – Internet Cupid (Dance Cover)
3/11 – Surimuchan’s Terrible Tutorial Auto-Captions Pt. 2

I still need to film Surimuchan [Now] #16 and H!P Vlog #9, though. (^_^”)> It’s also possible that I will upload a video with the full Agent 36 series (just the “drama” clips) the following week, but I’m not sure about that one yet.

That’s all for this update~!

Outfit for Upcoming Internet Cupid Dance Cover

February 22, 2017

cupid-7

internet-cupid-outfit

The 「Internet Cupid」 dance cover will be uploaded on March 6th. Not only is it Surimu Day (3/6), it’s also Momo’s birthday~! Her last birthday as a Hello! Project member… TT_TT I thought it was only fitting that I follow Momo’s part for a dance from a group that made me a big fan of her~. All of the songs from Buono!’s first album are super-amazing (and super-nostalgic) for me, but I remember 「Internet Cupid」 catching my attention early on. ^__^ Notice the Buono! member colors on my outfit! =D

Please look forward to the dance~!

~2016 Wrap-Up Post~

January 14, 2017

My year-end post is a little late. (^_^”) Here’s a quick breakdown (the split-screened and solo versions of “Magical Christmas” are considered two separate dances, and Up Up Girls (仮) is not considered H!P):

– I did a total of twenty-nine dances in 2016.
Three of these dances were original choreographies.
Five of these dances were MINI Clips.
Nine of these dances were non-Hello! Project dances.
Five of these dances were part of my “Agent 36” series.
– Of the twenty H!P dances, twelve of them were from singles/albums released in 2011 or earlier.
– Also, nine of the twenty H!P dances were album or coupling tracks (including “Iron Heart” for the °C-ute Dance Tribute).
One dance was one that had already been done previously.
– For each H!P group, I had the following number of dances – Morning Musume (any year) = 9; Berryz Koubou = 1; °C-ute = 2 (including the dance tribute); S/mileage/ANGERME = 2; Juice=Juice = 2; Country Girls = 1; misc. H!P (Buono!, Abe Natsumi, Mano Erina) = 3

Instead of giving a few comments for each video, I thought I’d just give a few general comments.
As far as my favorite dances, I was actually rather happy with the MINI Clips. They were each short and fun with something different (background, split screen…), so I still have fun watching them. The full dances though… orz Maybe I’m just being harder on myself than usual? I had had high hopes for “Shiroi Yuki no Princess wa” to maybe be another one of my “big” dance covers, but it didn’t do as well as I had hoped it would. (^_^”) I was pretty happy that I got a video uploaded on February 29th. XD “Daisuki Dakara Zettai ni Yurusanai” didn’t turn out too badly. I think I might have ended up liking the “Agent 36” episodes more than the dances that corresponded with them. XD orz “Party People Alien” was kind of fun. “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” and “Rival,” while okay were more of a relief to get done than anything, I think. (^_^”) I was super-excited with the warm reception for “Utakata Saturday Night!” ^__^ I feel a little bad about my °C-ute dance tribute; while I did work very hard to make everything work out and flow well, I can’t help but feel like it seems a bit rushed… because it kind of was. XD I only had, what, a couple of weeks or so to get it done in time for °C-uteの日. Just like with “Utakata Saturday Night!,” it was kind of exhilarating to be able to do a newer dance with “Oh my wish!” “Every Day Halloween” and “Magical Christmas” were fun dances to make because I got to be creative; “Every Day Halloween” will forever remind me of when I first got into watching wrestling because it has a bunch of references in the dance, and “Magical Christmas” was fun because I kind of love doing partially seated dances. =D I was proud of my improvement after I did “Kimagure Princess” again (ugh that first one… XD). And finally, “Kira Kira Fuyu no Shiny G” is a dance I had planned to do for Christmas for years, so it was nice to finally do it~.

So, basically… my MINI Clips were probably my favorites from my 2016 dances. I think I did more vlogs and “other” videos than I did dances (well, I definitely did), but that’s because I’ve been trying to upload at least once every week (which I have since the around the second week of October in 2015!!).

How about all of you? Which of my 2016 dances were your favorites? How about from my non-dance videos in 2016?

As far as 2016 in general… well, let’s just say I feel rather stupid about last year’s wrap-up post. XD What can I say… I was excited and hopeful, but then life just kind of slapped me upside the head. (^_^”) Thanks for continuing to put up with me~. =) (Also, it seems this is my 500th post on this blog~! =D)

Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! (Dance Cover) Trivia

April 26, 2016

– This is my 200th dance cover~!

– I’ve been meaning to do this dance forever, and that’s almost not an exaggeration! I like to make desktop wallpapers with a list of dances/videos that I want to do, and this one was on a wallpaper from June of 2010. O_O Also, if you go back to blog posts from that time (or somewhere around there), you’ll see that I was working on learning this dance and was actually really close to being done before I had to focus on the handful of requests I had gotten. IT’S FINALLY DONE~!!! =D

– This song is rather special to me, because it was the first Buono! song that came out after I started listening to them (though, to be fair, I think “Renai♥Rider” and their Café Buono! album has just been released not long before I started listening).

– This is the last Buono! single that has a dance shot version… but I refuse to stop dancing to Buono! … I’ll think of something!

– The outfit for this video took a lot of figuring out. At first, I was going to wear my navy blue blazer, but it’s such a dark shade that it actually looks like a lighter black color (that definitely does make sense; you’d know if you saw it XD). orz Then I considered wearing a black cardigan and adding white accents to make it look more like Momo’s outfit, but I decided against that because I wanted to keep the blue coloring in there. I thought about ditching Momo’s look altogether and just copying Airi’s outfit since I would have been able to match it better (kind of like how I wore something like Maimi’s outfit in my dance cover of “Momoiro Sparkling” even though I was following Airi’s part). In the end, I ended up using that blue vest that I love (… I just realized that I JUST wore that in “Party People Alien” XD) over a long sleeve white shirt (like Airi) with a grey-blue skirt and hot pink socks (like Momo). I also had a tie similar to Miyabi and Airi’s.

– I couldn’t help but wear a bunch of my buttons again because it fits Buono!’s punk rock look so well. The ones I wore were as follows: Rottara Rottara – Pink; Kagome; Kimi Sae Ireba Nani mo Iranai; Brainstorming – Blue; ZIGG-ZAGG; Shugo Chara! Heart – Red; You Say “YES!”; and one that’s not up for sale yet, Kia Ora Gracias Arigato. =D

– I followed some of Momo’s advice for making movements cuter by bouncing more while taking steps and curving my fingers outward when bringing my hands together. XD

– The most difficult thing about this dance was not so much a certain move but the order in which to do certain poses during the chorus. I actually wrote down “Momo’s Kiss! Kiss! Kiss! Peace Pattern” on an index card: Both straight, right straight, both by face with left foot up, etc. O__O You can see a couple points in the dance where I take a split second to remember which pose is next. XD The real kicker is that I think they just did random poses that weren’t necessarily choreographed. (-_-“) XD

– I have a habit of going “Ba! Ba! Ba!” when I do those arm swings (like the ones around 0:08). I tried to hold back when filming, but you can see that I did it a few times at least. XD

– The hair tie on the pigtail on my right side was a bit loose, so my hair ended up looking a little uneven after a bunch of jumping around. (^_^”)

– This is the first time in a long time that I haven’t done any sort of practice filming before doing this dance. =D

– The crazy laugh at the end of the video was me being super-excited about finally getting this dance done. XD

That’s all for this one~! I can’t believe I’ve done 200 dance covers! I was watching some of my older ones the other day, and I’m kind of proud of how far I’ve come. ^_^ … Speaking of which, I should really redo some of those dances someday; the old ones are pretty cringe-worthy. XD Thanks for watching and reading~!

~2014 Wrap-Up Post~

January 1, 2015

Well, it’s a bit late, but here’s my year-end post for 2014~. I had a very small number of dance covers this year, so I’ll just leave a quick comment about each one.

GO MY WAY!!
– I really do love doing iDOLM@STER dance covers~! They’re always so much fun! I really wish I would have picked a better outfit for this one, though; it’s much too similar to so many others that I’ve had. (^__^”)

What is LOVE?
– AAAAAHHHHH! This cover is very special to me, not only because of the crazy editing (that I’m rather proud of) but because this is the one that Haruna, Fuku-chan, and Sakura liked~. =D I still have the video of them watching and talking about it saved on my computer, and I watch it every once in a while when I’m not feeling too happy. ♥

Motto Zutto Issho ni Itakatta
– This is one of Berryz Koubou’s catchiest songs, in my opinion. As far as my video, I was rather happy with the desaturated look of it. I had hoped to do more split-screening for this one, but, sadly, it just wasn’t working out.

Gachinko de Ikou!
– One of the dances that I’ve had on my To Do List forever~!! I’m not 100% satisfied with my outfit, but… This was another one that I had wanted to do some split-screening in, but there wasn’t enough room to make it work. orz At least I got a chance to wear actual H!P merchandise in a dance! XD

CRAZY ABOUT YOU
– This outfit was slightly outside my comfort zone, but the song was an early favorite, so I kind of wanted to do it justice~. Overall, I feel I could have done better on this one. (^__^”)

Egao no Kimi wa Taiyou sa
– I was mostly pleased with this one, though I could have tightened up a few moves. I’m happy that I was able to show a more genuine happiness in this dance~.

SAMURAI GIRLS
– This was another one that had some complicated editing that I was (am!) really proud of. I’m actually quite fond of the outfits for this one (as well as the song and dance in general). This might be one of my favorites from 2014.

Ee Ka!?
– I was pleasantly surprised with the positive response this one got because I didn’t think it turned out very good at all. XD I suppose I kind of liked how the first half of the dance break turned out, and… that’s about all I have to say about this one. XDD

Berryz Koubou Dance Tribute ~ 10 Year Anniversary ~
– If you wanted to be super-nitpicky, I guess this would technically be my first attempt at choreography. It was quite a lot of fun going through all of their videos to find different moves to use. Thank goodness I did this before they announced their indefinite hiatus; I probably would have been crying through half the dance otherwise (well, maybe not quite). XD

Hadaka no Hadaka no Hadaka no KISS
– I believe this one was also fairly well-received~. This is one of those rare videos of mine that I actually like. XD Again, slightly outside my comfort level, but I actually loved this outfit (along with the song and dance). Another favorite, I think.

Hajimete wo Keikenchuu
– This was my first outdoor HD dance… and that’s about all I can say about it. I found it rather forgettable, unfortunately. =( It was rather fun getting my viewers involved in choosing part of the outfit on my Facebook page, though! =D

Ai wa Itsumo Kimi no Naka ni
– Love the song~. The outfit turned out rather well… My dancing could have been better at times. orz

Otsukimi Recital
– Love, love, loooove Fine & Tsurutei’s dances! I’m a bit sad that the two parts were slightly offset at times because of the super-slowdown on my split-screening computer, but I still really like how this one turned out~. ^__^

Happy Trap
– I’m actually not a big fan of this one. I can’t really put my finger on what it is that bugs me, but, the more I watched it, the less I cared for it. That’s pretty sad considering this was my birthday dance. T__T It probably had the most interesting background of my 2014 dances, though.

Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance
– This was my silliest dance cover in a long time, and I love how it turned out! Some of the faces I make… XD Oddly enough, this was the dance that almost made me completely give up on making YouTube videos because I was in such great pain the first time I tried to record it. My rapid-fire failures that day led me to a short hiatus during which I seriously considered quitting. Luckily, I healed both physically and mentally and continued on my merry way~. When I finally finished this one, I was SO incredibly happy. It’s such an odd song to have so many deep emotions associated with it. XD

-Winter Story-
– I hope I don’t sound too big-headed when I say that I am so incredibly proud of this one~. I didn’t spend as long as I thought I would creating a dance. I had tried making my own dance to a song a few years ago, but it was incredibly difficult; maybe my experience in writing tutorials made it easier and the fact that I’ve been expanding my dance repertoire probably didn’t hurt. This was another favorite~!

I guess that means “What is LOVE?,” “SAMURAI GIRLS,” “Hadaka no Hadaka no Hadaka no KISS,” “Otsukimi Recital,” and “-Winter Story-” were my top five this year, though “Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance” was high on the list, too~. How about you? Do you have a top ten? Five? One?

Thank you all, so much, for supporting me over the past year! I know I said I had a rough year in my 2013 Wrap-Up Post, but 2014 was even more brutal. Despite the terribly small number of videos I released in 2014, I continued getting comments, likes, and subscribers. Ah~, all of my lovely viewers~! If there was an official name for my splendid viewers, I would make a shirt that says, “I ♥ my (official name)!,” but there isn’t, so I’ll just stick with saying thank you~. XD I have big plans for 2015, but who knows what this year will actually bring? We’ll have to see~. I look forward to releasing fun, new videos for you this year, too!

-Winter Story- (Original Choreography) Trivia

December 22, 2014

– As I’ve said a few times (I’m proud of it, okay?! XD), this is my first original choreography. I ran out of winter songs that had dances (at least clear dances), so I found a Christmas song that hadn’t been performed at all and decided to make a dance for it~.

– I started working on the choreography on October 30th and finished roughly two weeks later.

– To create the dance, I wrote out the moves I was doing as if I was writing a tutorial. I didn’t move straight through the song when coming up with dance moves; I created some moves to fit with the lyrics and others to fit with the beats. Once I got those ones done, I filled in the “in-between” parts to make the whole dance flow together.

– I believe the first move I came up with was making the Christmas tree shape during the chorus (during the line “Christmas for you”). From there, I had to figure out how to get my hands to the starting position for the tree shape, then I had to figure out where to go after I finished making the shape. (The very first move was determined very early on as well; it’s how I knew I wanted to do all three parts.)

– When making the dance, I worked on Momo’s part first, partially out of habit, but also because I had planned on having her part on the right side (left side of the screen), so a lot of the “waterfall” moves (first person moves, second does the same, third does the same) would start with her.

– The air guitar playing was decided rather early on because it seemed very Buono!-ish. XD

– I originally had whomever wasn’t doing their solo moves during the dance break just kind of randomly dancing in place, but, after a practice filming, I found that to be too busy, so I went with posing instead.

– Did anyone notice that little nod I had to the dance for Morning Musume’s “Mikan” near the end of the song? =D

– I filmed them in order from left to right (from the camera’s point of view); that was also the order in which I made the “individual” dance moves (Momo, Airi, Miyabi).

– For Momo’s part’s outfit, I was going to wear a white beret and the silver scarf around my neck, but I didn’t think it looked enough like a Buono! outfit (they usually had a rather punk-rock look, at least while they were singing for Shugo Chara!), so I changed it up a bit by adding chains around the shoulder, fingerless gloves, and by wrapping the scarf around my belt and then pinning it up by my shoulder.

– This was the first dance in which I wore leggings. You can’t tell, but they’re black with white stars. I felt that, because you can’t really see the star pattern, the whole look was kind of ruined and out of place. orz

– The outfit for Airi’s part is my favorite. I added chains to the shoulder of my vest for that one, too.

– The look for Miyabi’s part gave me a bit of trouble at first, because I didn’t know what to do to set it apart. XD I had the red plaid scarf and the poinsettia (which is nearly invisible in this light/quality), but I didn’t know what else I could do to change it. I ended up cutting up and pinning a wide piece of black fabric around my waist to make it look like I had high-waisted shorts on. XD I actually rather like how it turned out~.

– I was happy with the little bit of “interaction” between Airi’s and Miyabi’s parts around 2:34. I always like to do that in my split screening if I have the chance~.

– I was panicking about finding a clip from one of the Christmas Douyou Pops songs for my ending video clip (because it’s been my tradition to use a short, instrumental clip from one of those songs for the end of my Christmas videos), because I couldn’t seem to find a clip that was long enough that didn’t have any singing. I ended up taking a small piece from the beginning of “Omedetou Christmas” and repeating it.

– The present at the end wasn’t even fulling wrapped; I only covered the top because I didn’t want to waste wrapping paper. (^__^”)>

– The wrapping paper was a matte silver background with shiny silver leaves/branches and sparkly red berries. It would have looked pretty, but the camera hadn’t focused completely, so the message at the end was blurry, which led me to desaturating the clip and adding a little film aging. I sharpened the picture at the very end so that it could be read more easily.

I think that’s it for this one~. ^_^

Well, everyone! it’s going to be an absolute circus for me for the next few weeks! More on that later~. Until then… an early and very Merry Christmas to you all~! Thank you for watching and reading!

ガチンコでいこう! (Dance Cover) Trivia

March 4, 2014

– I bought that teal beret (70% off!) specifically for this dance. I was kind of kicking myself for not buying one earlier, because there had been some pink ones, too. (^_^”)>

– You can hardly see it, but the pink pin I’m wearing on my vest is of the old H!P logo. A friend sent it to me last year along with a couple of Mano Erina pins~. =D

– My face is super-red because I had done the dance multiple times before I finally thought it was at least slightly satisfactory. … There are still mistakes, though… orz

– Because I was following Momo’s part, I decided to keep my pinky fingers up for a few different parts. XD

– The “doki doki doki” part is one of my favorite parts of the song and dance; I always love fake trips and falls in dances. XD

– For that same part, I had to stop in the middle of a take because, when I fell backwards, I fell a little harder than expected and slammed into the wall. I wasn’t hurt, but I started laughing, so I ruined the take. XDD

– I love the jumping~~~~! =D I also love the dance break with the random twirling and arm swinging (even though my mom said it makes her dizzy XD) and the tiny steps in a circle like I’m some sort of music box dancer. =)

– As I said in the video description, I had wanted to split screen a few parts in this dance (the individual moves during the dance break, “sou sou sou” and “doki doki doki,” and the spoken lines before each chorus), but I had the camera at the wrong angle/distance for split-screening, and I didn’t notice it until I had the video uploaded to my computer. By then I was too tired to attempt any more takes. orz

– It seems to me that I threw myself around too much for some of the moves because I was getting way too into the song. (^_^”)> Sorry for some sloppiness. m(_ _)m

– Not that it has anything to do with the dance, but I’ve been playing Bravely Default like a madwoman lately. XD

That’s all for this one~. I hope everyone enjoyed it!! Thank you for watching and reading~. ^__^
